We had one Dutch translation of the questionnaire in hand just in case interviewers couldn't understand completely. It turned out approximately 60% answered directly on the original (English) sheet and other used the Dutch translation. Speaking of myself, I had 12 interviewers in total, containing 2 young people (under 25) and 10 elder than 40.
What actually amazed me was, Dutch people DO have a high knowledge and understanding on responsible tourism. When I talked with them about their reason to pay more on sustainable activities I got answers like, "to create a better environment", "to reduce the pollution", "to care about our children". Although their travel budget aren't always that high (according to the questionnaire also), they are willing to contribute at least 5% for a more sustainable and green life.
Special thanks to VVV Tourist Information of Rotterdam as well for letting us stay inside and interview people freely. Not like usual tourism offices with more foreign people visiting, VVV told me that they always have more Dutch people coming for information. Staying in Rotterdam for a weekend, Booking tickets of Spido (luxury sight seeing ship), visiting fascinating architectures, checking out special events such as Museumnacht (museum night) on this coming Saturday. It's another reflection of how Dutch people enjoy their life even in their local region, and they can always make the best of it while caring about responsibility at the time.
Some pictures of me and Miri ;)
They we had an "organic" dinner at Miri's place. Moroccan couscous, roasted beef, sausage and corn, Chinese-style veggies. It was tasty and a fun night, after few hours working on the project!
